Maryse CHOISY, born February 1, 1903 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and died March 21, 1979 in Paris, was a French writer, journalist and psychoanalyst. After traveling in the United States and Asia, she developed a deep interest in psychoanalysis, as well as in Eastern spirituality.
A highlight of her career was the founding of the magazine Psyché in 1946, which became a meeting place for psychoanalysis, philosophy, science and spiritual traditions.
She thus worked towards a synthesis between Freudian psychoanalysis and Eastern currents of thought, in a perspective of openness and interdisciplinary dialogue. Her work contributed to the introduction of Freudian thought in France, alongside her research into religions and their role in psychological healing.
